CD Projekt Red, the developers behind The Witcher 4, have issued a stern warning to fans about fraudulent beta test invites circulating online. CD Projekt Red Issues Warning on The Witcher 4 Beta Test Scam
CD Projekt Red has taken to The Witcher's official Twitter (X) account to alert the community about a scam involving fake beta test invitations for The Witcher 4. On April 16, they posted, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. If you receive any invites or come across news of one, please report the scam using the tools available on your email client or the social media platform you're using."
The developers emphasized that any future beta tests for The Witcher 4 would be announced through official channels such as The Witcher's social media accounts and websites.
The Witcher 4 Announcement and Ciri as the Protagonist
The Witcher 4 was first unveiled at The Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer showcasing Ciri as the new protagonist. This shift from the long-standing hero Geralt sparked a significant reaction within the gaming community.
In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, addressed the fanbase's concerns. He stated, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."
Executive Producer Małgorzata Mitręga also shared his thoughts, expressing gratitude for the community's engagement and passion. He noted, "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games. The best answer for that will be the game itself when it's released."
The Ambitious Scope of The Witcher 4
CD Projekt Red aims to make The Witcher 4 the most ambitious installment in the series to date. The game will introduce new regions and monsters, expanding the universe fans have come to love. The Witcher 4 is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has yet to be announced.
