Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series by letting fans vote on the next batch of official merchandise. A whopping 100 items are up for grabs, with the top two vote-getters slated for release within the next two years. The poll is currently only available in Japanese, but submissions can be made through the official website.
The options range from the expected (like a 20th-anniversary hoodie or pencil case) to the utterly bizarre, drawing heavily on the series' famously outlandish history.
Among the more unusual choices are Munan Suzuki's cult outfit from Yakuza 0, Majima's oversized traffic cone from Yakuza Kiwami, and the intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants." Other items include Majima's sake cup from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4.
The studio is already planning at least one 20th-anniversary release in 2025: Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean (sic; should be Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth), launching February 21st. While a second release is unconfirmed, RGG Studio's prolific output in recent years (nine games in the last five years, including the Yakuza and Like a Dragon titles, plus other projects) suggests it's not out of the realm of possibility.
