Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (RGG) appear to have inadvertently revealed plans for Yakuza Kiwami 3, hinting at an imminent official announcement.
Excitement spread across X/Twitter and Reddit when eagle-eyed fans spotted references to Yakuza Kiwami 3 on the developer's official site. Though the original webpage mentioning a third remake installment was quickly removed, community members preserved screenshots as evidence of the potential leak.

The Kiwami line represents RGG's modern reimaginings of classic Yakuza titles. After 2016's Yakuza Kiwami (remaking the first game) and its sequel's remake, the unconfirmed Yakuza Kiwami 3 would presumably follow this pattern by updating the 2009 PS3 release Yakuza 3.
Should RGG announce Yakuza Kiwami 3 soon, it would perfectly time with their annual RGG Summit on September 24, followed by an RGG Direct presentation. Fans anticipating major Like a Dragon franchise news find the leaked website reference particularly intriguing, arriving just days before these scheduled events.
Series director Masayoshi Yokoyama previously addressed Yakuza Kiwami 3 possibilities in April 2024 during development of other projects. While tempering immediate expectations, he clearly left the door open for future development: "I'm certain we'll create Kiwami 3 eventually - it's just a matter of timing."
The recent leak suggests that "someday" might arrive sooner than expected. For those eager to revisit earlier remakes, our reviews awarded Yakuza Kiwami 7.9/10 and its sequel 8/10. Additionally, RGG's recent projects include February's Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and this year's announced Stranger Than Heaven.
