Rummy 500 scoring is based on melding cards – earn points for successfully melding and lose points for unmelded cards (deadwood) remaining in your hand at the end of a round.
Key Game Rules:
- Players: 2-4 players
- Deck: One standard deck with Jokers
- Hand Size: 7 cards per player
- Objective: Reach 500 points first. The highest-scoring player wins, even if multiple players reach the target.
- Melds: Form sets (3-4 cards of the same rank) and sequences (3 or more cards of the same suit in order). Card values determine your score.
- Gameplay: Draw a card, meld (or build on existing melds), and discard.
- Jokers: Wild cards, usable in any meld.
- Discard Pile: Draw one or more cards, but you must use the last discarded card immediately in a meld.
- Card Values: Royalty cards (J, Q, K) are 10 points each. Aces are 11 points (in a meld) or a 15-point penalty if held at the end. Jokers take the value of the card they replace, plus a 15-point penalty if held.
- Rounds & Scoring: Each round's score is added cumulatively. The game ends when a player reaches or exceeds 500 points. Ties are resolved with a playoff.
