Ubisoft has officially announced the global release times for the much-anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows, marking a significant milestone for the franchise. Unlike its predecessors, this game introduces a unified release date across all platforms, with no option for early access, ensuring that every player starts their journey simultaneously.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S at 12am local time on March 20. However, PC players will have different release times depending on their chosen platform. Those purchasing on Steam will see the game go live at varying times on March 19 and 20, while Ubi Connect users will have their own set of release times starting from March 19.
Pre-loading is already available for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC, allowing eager fans to prepare for the game's launch.
The pressure is on for Assassin’s Creed Shadows to perform well for Ubisoft, following a series of delays and the less-than-expected sales of last year's Star Wars Outlaws. Ubisoft has faced several challenges recently, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations, which heightens the stakes for this release.
IGN’s review of Assassin’s Creed Shadows awarded it an impressive 8/10, praising it for refining the series' open-world mechanics: “By sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Assassin’s Creed Shadows creates one of the best versions of the open-world style it’s been honing for the last decade.”
