The cards unveiled today are featured on the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, included within the expansive main set. These cards are reprints adorned with concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those seen in the recent reveals or the Commander decks, their art spans from the very first Final Fantasy game, adding a nostalgic touch.

Unlike the cards in the main set, the Through the Ages cards won't be legal in Magic's Standard format (though they remain legal if the original card was already part of Standard). Essentially, they serve as alternate art versions of existing cards. You can find these cards in both the premium Collector Boosters and in one out of every three regular Play Boosters, which are used for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you're planning to dive deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll likely encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige stands out as an Uncommon. This card is a reskin of the iconic Lightning Bolt, and its impact on the set could be significant.
The Warrior of Light reprint of Jodah, the Unifier, is sure to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the art here is Amano's from the original Final Fantasy Japanese boxart. Similarly, Amano's iconic art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has only been reprinted once before.
These cards will be available physically as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions launching on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan not yet into Magic, there's still excitement to be had. Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the FF7 Remake series, hinted that the design of Sephiroth on one card holds a mysterious significance.
