AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, a much-anticipated follow-up to the successful RX 9070 XT released in March. Despite the excitement, Team Red has kept details about this mid-range graphics card under wraps.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT is equipped with 32 Compute Units and a hefty 16GB of GDDR6 memory, making it a strong contender for 1080p gaming. Given its smaller size, it's no surprise that it consumes less power than its predecessor, boasting a Total Board Power (TBP) of 150-182W. With half the Compute Units and approximately half the power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT is expected to be significantly less powerful but hopefully more budget-friendly. Unfortunately, AMD has not yet disclosed any pricing or release date for this upcoming graphics card.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
While AMD's silence on the Radeon RX 9060 XT's price is frustrating, it's likely to be competitively priced, similar to the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060. These competing cards have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively, and were released at around $250-$300. AMD is expected to target the same market segment.
When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT finally hits the market, gamers looking for a graphics card in the $300 range will have three options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT remains within this price bracket, it will stand out as the only GPU in its class with 16GB of VRAM, compared to 8GB from Nvidia and 12GB from Intel.
While I'll need to test it in the lab to assess its performance, the larger frame buffer could give the RX 9060 XT a longer lifespan as games become more demanding on video memory. Only time will reveal the final cost of the RX 9060 XT, but it's shaping up to be the budget GPU to keep an eye on.
