Backbone Unveils Exclusive Xbox Mobile Controller

Author : Violet Apr 07,2025

When it comes to mobile gaming, Xbox has been making significant strides, aiming to establish itself as more than just a console brand. In a move that underscores this ambition, Xbox has partnered with game peripheral manufacturer Backbone to launch a new mobile-focused controller, the Backbone One: Xbox Edition. Priced at a recommended retail price of $109.99, this controller will be available directly from Backbone and through Best Buy Drops.

The Backbone One: Xbox Edition stands out with its Xbox branding and a striking semi-translucent green design, reminiscent of the iconic Xbox aesthetic. It features the familiar XYBA buttons and other elements that Xbox fans will recognize instantly. Currently, the controller is compatible with USB-C devices, catering to Android users and potentially some iOS devices in the future, should the EU's proposed USB-C legislation come into effect.

A dollar sign too far? The Backbone One: Xbox Edition certainly catches the eye with its sleek, transparent plastic casing. As someone who appreciates this design, I can see its appeal, especially for avid GamePass users and mobile gamers looking to enhance their experience. However, the $109.99 price tag might be a hurdle for some. While it's considerably less than the cost of an Xbox console, which typically exceeds $400, the premium for a branded mobile controller could be a sticking point.

Despite the price, Xbox's commitment to the mobile gaming market is undeniable. They continue to make bold moves, and for those interested in exploring what Xbox has to offer on mobile, be sure to check out our list of the top 10 best Xbox Game Pass releases for Android!
