Bandai Namco is taking another exciting step to bring the beloved Digimon franchise to mobile devices with the upcoming release of Digimon Alysion. This new game, a digital rendition of the popular Digimon Card Game, is set to launch on both Android and iOS platforms as a free-to-play title, though an exact release date has yet to be announced.
The official announcement came during Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. Alongside this news, Bandai Namco unveiled other exciting updates, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc starting in April 2025. The event also featured a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime and introduced a new project titled Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, is in development for consoles and PC.
If You Play Digimon Card Game, Alysion Isn’t the Same
Digimon Alysion isn’t just a direct port of the physical Digimon Card Game. It introduces a new element called ‘DigiAly’ cards, which are exclusive to this digital version, alongside the original cards. Bandai Namco is also adding new Digimon and characters to the mix.
The game's character lineup, featured on the official website, consists primarily of an all-female cast, which marks a unique approach for a digital card game. This has led to some skepticism among fans, particularly those who were hoping for a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.
This isn’t Bandai Namco’s first foray into Digimon mobile gaming, and their previous attempts have not been particularly successful. With two failed mobile games in the past, there's understandable hesitation about whether Digimon Alysion will break the streak.
