Director Hideo Kojima recently presented actress Shiori Kutsuna with flowers, acknowledging her contributions to the game. Kojima's message praised Kutsuna's dedication, noting her motion capture work in Los Angeles, 3D scanning sessions, and voice recording (both Japanese and English) across various locations, all while navigating pandemic-related challenges.
Reports indicate Kutsuna's involvement in Death Stranding 2 began in Fall 2022. At Tokyo Game Show 2024, Kojima showcased several two-minute cutscenes, highlighting key allies of the protagonist.
These included: George Miller as Tarman, captain of the tar-lake traversing mobile base, Magellan; Fatih Akin as Dollman, a former medium now a living doll; and Léa Seydoux's return as Fragile. Elle Fanning portrays "Tomorrow," a mysterious character discovered in a death-like realm, echoing the original Death Stranding tagline, "Tomorrow is in your hands."
One scene features the characters singing Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" while interacting with a pregnant woman named Rainy (played by Shiori Kutsuna).
