Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server to Shut Down
Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced the end of service (EOS) for the global version of their mobile RPG, Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. This closure comes just over a year after the game's January 2024 global launch, indicating underperformance in the international market. The Japanese version, launched in September 2023, will continue operation.
Closure Date:
The global server will shut down on March 28th, 2025 – ironically coinciding with the Japanese version's 1.5-year anniversary. Global players will conclude their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1), while Japanese players progress through Chapter 22 (Part 2).
Current Status:
In-game purchases are already disabled. However, players can still utilize any remaining Lodestar Gems until the shutdown. Koei Tecmo promises additional content and events leading up to the closure.
Reasons for Closure:
The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory player experience as the primary reason for the global server's closure. The game struggled to gain traction, facing criticism almost immediately after launch. Player complaints focused on the gacha system, unbalanced gameplay, excessive monetization, and significant power creep. These factors ultimately contributed to the decision to end service.
The game remains available on the Google Play Store for those wishing to play before the shutdown.
