"Fallout Debuts at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights 2025"

Author : Gabriel Jun 27,2025

IGN has the exclusive reveal that Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, both in Orlando and Hollywood, is expanding its terrifying lineup with two major new attractions—one based on Prime Video’s *Fallout* series and another drawing inspiration from the blockbuster *Five Nights at Freddy’s* movie. The latter will be brought to life with the expertise of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop—the same legendary team behind the animatronics featured in the film.

While details about the Five Nights at Freddy’s experience remain under wraps for now, we do know more about the Fallout-themed haunted house. It will open earlier than most HHN houses this year—August 29 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 4 at Universal Studios Hollywood—offering fans a chance to step directly into the world of the hit TV show and explore key moments from Season 1 and beyond.

Guests begin their journey inside Vault 33, following Lucy MacLean as she attempts to escape a brutal massacre while uncovering a dark and twisted secret buried within the vault. From there, they’ll venture into the treacherous Wasteland, dodging attacks from Scavengers, Raiders, and even mutated creatures like RAD Roaches. Along the way, visitors will pass through iconic locations such as the Super Duper Mart, encounter the Ghoul, and come face-to-face with Maximus clad in his imposing T-60 armor.

To dive deeper into what makes this attraction so special, we spoke live with John Murdy, Creative Director/Executive Producer at Universal Studios Hollywood, and Matthew Flood, Senior Show Director at Universal Orlando Resort. Both are longtime fans of the Fallout franchise and shared how every detail has been carefully crafted to deliver an authentic and immersive experience.

“As you move through these environments, we want fans to feel like they’re stepping into the world of Fallout,” Flood explained. “How often do you get to walk through a real Fallout vault and then into the Wasteland? We’ve included subtle storytelling elements throughout the experience—like bodies scattered outside the vault—to help set the tone. It’s gruesome, intense, and exactly what our Halloween Horror Nights guests expect.”

Murdy added that the Fallout universe offers something entirely new for Halloween Horror Nights. “The retro-futuristic aesthetic of the 1950s, combined with the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, gives us a fresh horror landscape to explore. This is unlike anything we've done before—it opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.”

Each park will offer a slightly different take on the Fallout experience. In Hollywood, the T-60 armor will be a full animatronic figure, while in Orlando, it will play a pivotal role in a climactic battle sequence involving Filly—a moment that fans of the series will find especially thrilling.

Murdy also hinted at unique creature designs, including the terrifying Yao Guai Bear making its appearance in the Hollywood version of the haunted house. Despite the chaotic nature of the attraction, the creative team ensured it's more than just jump scares and monsters.

“Our writing treatments average around 100 pages,” Murdy said. “They include both narrative direction and technical breakdowns for each scene. Attention to detail is what Halloween Horror Nights is known for—and we're designing this experience not only for casual guests but also for the hardcore fans of the game and the show.”

Flood teased that hidden Easter eggs will be scattered throughout the attraction, including a custom Pip-Boy design and subtle clues visible on building sides and store windows. “If you go through the house multiple times, you’ll start noticing all the little touches we’ve added—things that might slip past first-time players but will excite true fans.”

When asked what excited them most about the project, Murdy pointed to the transition from the claustrophobic Vault 33 into the vast, dangerous Wasteland—especially the recreation of the Super Duper Mart, which he called one of the most memorable parts of the experience.

And for those eagerly awaiting the Five Nights at Freddy’s experience, Murdy offered a tantalizing tease: “When you experience this, it is literally like living in the movie.”

Stay tuned for more updates on *Fallout* Season 2, the upcoming sequel poster for *Five Nights at Freddy’s*, and everything related to IGN Live, launching June 7.
