The March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria* introduced Essence Stones, a new item crucial for several in-game features. These stones come in four sizes—tiny, small, medium, and large—and are essential for automating daily tasks. Here's everything you need to know about finding, crafting, and using Essence Stones in *Fields of Mistria*.

Following the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be found inside chests scattered throughout the mines of *Fields of Mistria*. I stumbled upon my first one while searching for offering items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but these chests can appear on any level across various biomes and floors. Be cautious of mimic enemies, which look like chests but can harm you upon interaction.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. Smaller stones are more common, but with diligent exploration, you can discover larger deposits. If you're struggling to find them, consider crafting them using the Stone Refinery, which you can build inside the mines.

Crafting Essence Stones is possible at the Stone Refinery, a new feature introduced in the March 2025 update. This refinery becomes part of a story quest where Adeline recruits you, along with Olric and Errol, to build it within the mines. To construct the Stone Refinery, you'll need:
- x200 Wood
- x400 Stone
- x5,000 Tesserae
Once built, you can craft Essence Stones of various sizes using Stone and Essence. The crafting requirements vary by size, as detailed in the table below:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
The Stone Refinery also allows you to craft other common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it a valuable hub for crafting supplies needed for various projects around Mistria.
How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The March 2025 update introduced the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics, both of which rely on Essence Stones. Larger stones provide a longer charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most days of use.

The auto-petter mechanic is linked to the Animal Sprite Statue, which can be placed in Large Barns and Coops. When an Essence Stone is used, it automatically pets all animals inside each day. You can find this statue in a concealed cave next to Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible by using the Dragon’s Breath spell on the entrance. Additional statues can be crafted once unlocked.
The sprinkler mechanic is enabled by the Water Sprite Statue, which can be placed anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius when an Essence Stone is used. You can find this statue and its crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, past the Lighthouse area. Access the island by swimming and using Dragon’s Breath on the entrance.
As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with updates from NPC Studio, Essence Stones are likely to find even more applications within the game.
