Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward
The Haunted Mirror stands out as one of the safest Cursed Objects in Phasmophobia, offering significant advantages that outweigh the inherent risks. Its functionality remains consistent across game updates, making it a highly recommended item if encountered during an investigation.
The Mirror's primary function is to reveal the ghost's current preferred room or area. It provides a panoramic view of this location, significantly accelerating the ghost's discovery and allowing for strategic equipment placement before the investigation intensifies.
Typically found hanging on a wall (as seen in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or on the floor in its predetermined location, the Haunted Mirror, like all Cursed Objects, spawns consistently in the same spot on each map; the randomness lies in which Cursed Object appears.
To utilize the Mirror, simply pick it up and use the designated interaction button (mouse or controller) to hold it aloft. Its reflection will display the ghost's favored room. However, on Professional difficulty and above, remember that the ghost's location might shift after a certain time.
Caution is advised: prolonged gazing into the Mirror depletes sanity. Holding it for the entire duration will shatter the Mirror, triggering a Cursed Hunt at your precise location. Therefore, utilize the Mirror when your sanity is high and ensure you understand the reflected image.
Understanding Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia
Unlike standard equipment, which aids in ghost detection and evidence gathering with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts or advantages at a substantially higher risk to your character's well-being.
The risk level varies among Cursed Objects, leaving the decision of whether to use them to the player(s). There's no penalty for choosing not to engage with them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist in the game:
- Summoning Circle
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
