NBC Universal has unveiled the gripping final trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, offering fans a tantalizing glimpse into the film's key elements and showcasing both beloved and brand-new dinosaurs. Directed by Gareth Edwards, known for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and penned by the original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, this thrilling installment stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali.
The plot follows an extraction team, led by Johansson's character Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations expert, as they embark on a perilous mission to the most dangerous place on Earth—an island that once served as a research facility for the original Jurassic Park. This island is now home to the most formidable dinosaurs left behind. The mission takes a dramatic turn when Zora's team encounters a stranded civilian family, whose boat was capsized by marauding aquatic dinosaurs, leading them all to the forbidden island.
Set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the film explores a world where dinosaurs struggle to survive in an inhospitable environment, confined to isolated equatorial zones. The narrative revolves around the genetic material of three colossal creatures from land, sea, and air, which holds the key to a revolutionary drug that could save countless human lives.
The final trailer highlights several exciting scenes, including a river raft sequence inspired by Michael Crichton's original Jurassic Park novel. Koepp, who re-read Crichton's works to infuse the film with authentic elements, brought this unused scene to life, fulfilling a long-standing desire to include it in the franchise.
The trailer also introduces new dinosaur species, such as the 'D-Rex,' officially known as Distortus Rex—a mutant dinosaur that blends characteristics of a T-Rex and a Star Wars Rancor. Gareth Edwards described it as "a T-Rex designed by H.R. Giger, then crossed with a Rancor." Additionally, viewers get a closer look at winged Mutadons, a fearsome hybrid of pterosaurs and Raptors.
With stunning visuals and intense action, Jurassic World Rebirth promises to captivate audiences when it hits theaters on July 2. For more information and to explore the biggest questions surrounding the film, be sure to check out our comprehensive coverage.
