The upcoming DLC for *Lies of P*, titled "Overture," introduces a groundbreaking feature for the franchise: difficulty options. As a "Soulslike" game, *Lies of P* is known for its challenging gameplay, which can be daunting for new players drawn to its dark and immersive world. Initially, director Jiwon Choi expressed that the team believed Soulslike games should not include difficulty options, and thus, the game launched without them. However, after listening to extensive player feedback, Neowiz has decided to incorporate these options into the game.
“We wanted to ensure that a broader audience could enjoy *Lies of P*,” Choi explained to VGC. "By incorporating feedback from both our customers and our developers, we are making adjustments to cater to different types of players, thereby expanding our player base."
Players have mixed reactions to this change. Some appreciate the inclusivity, with one player stating, "I got into gaming at 24 and use the easier settings because I lack the skills developed over years of playing. It's great to see games becoming more accessible." Another player added, "Souls elitists focus too much on bragging rights. I'm glad *Lies of P* isn't just catering to them."
However, not everyone is on board with the changes. A user on Steam's discussion forums lamented, "I was interested in playing, but after all the nerfs and adding difficulty levels, I've lost interest. Please stop catering to beginners." Another expressed disappointment, saying, "You had a masterpiece, Neowiz, and you've turned it into a laughing stock."

*Lies of P* offers a unique twist on the classic Pinocchio tale, blending it with a challenging action game and a dynamic "lie" system that influences gameplay. The "Overture" DLC expands the game with new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons. It also introduces "Death March," a mode that allows players to battle the game's bosses once more. The DLC is expected to take seasoned players around 15-20 hours to complete and becomes available after reaching a specific chapter in the game. Neowiz has also announced a full sequel to *Lies of P*.
Our review of *Lies of P* awarded it an 8/10, noting, "Lies of P might not stray far from its Soulslike roots, but it executes the formula exceptionally well."
