- $499.99 at Best Buy
By choosing the Switch 2 bundle with Super Mario Kart World, you save $30 compared to purchasing the console and game separately. Keep in mind, the console bundle comes with a digital copy of the game, so if you prefer a physical copy, you might want to spend the extra $30 on the standalone game.
Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
When bought on its own, Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99, which is $10 more than the standard price for AAA PlayStation and Xbox games this generation. While price increases between console generations aren't ideal, it's clear that game development costs are rising. Hopefully, the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies the higher price tag.
What Is Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is poised to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date, adopting an open-world format inspired by the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from one race to the next, driving from the end of one track directly to the start of another. The game's tracks are dynamically affected by weather and time of day, impacting visibility and traction. You can also venture off the designated tracks and explore "virtually everywhere," as stated by Nintendo. Each race supports up to 24 drivers, surpassing previous games in the series.
A new mode, Knockout Tour, introduces races across the entire open world, where you must meet placement requirements at checkpoints to avoid elimination. For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode lets you drive anywhere in the world with friends, capturing photos along the way.
More details on Mario Kart World will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview for additional insights.
