In the midst of the usual buzz around tariffs and Nintendo Switch 2 pricing, IGN brought us a delightful distraction this Friday: a firsthand experience with Mario Kart World at a Nintendo event in New York. The highlight? The confirmation that the newly introduced Moo Moo Meadows Cow can indeed indulge in a variety of foods, including burgers and steak.
For those not yet in the loop, Mario Kart World recently unveiled the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a playable character, sparking a wave of excitement and creativity across the internet. From memes to fanart, the community has embraced this once-background character with open arms.
Yet, as the news of Cow's debut spread, a curious issue arose following the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer where Mario was seen eating a burger. This raised questions among fans about whether Cow, potentially linked to beef production, would consume beef herself.
Imagine if the cow gets a transformation costume.

At the Nintendo preview event, IGN discovered that the food items featured in the trailer are available at Yoshi's diner locations across the game's courses. These function much like drive-thrus, where racers can grab a bag of take-out similar to an item box. The assortment of foods includes burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts.
And yes, Cow can eat them all.

During our session, we observed Cow consuming various items, including the burger. While other racers undergo costume changes upon consuming these foods, Cow appears unaffected. This raises intriguing questions: Is Cow eating beef simply for enjoyment? Could there be a hidden power-up from burger consumption that Nintendo has yet to reveal? Or are these perhaps veggie burgers and plant-based kebabs?
IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification, but we're still awaiting a response. We're hopeful it's just due to their busy schedule at the New York event, rather than the absurdity of our inquiry.Be sure to check out our Mario Kart World preview, which includes a special appearance by our friend Cow.
