Michael Douglas, the seasoned actor known for his role as Hank Pym in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has announced that he is likely finished with the franchise. Douglas has portrayed the shrinking scientist in four films, including the three Ant-Man movies and "Avengers: Endgame." His most recent appearance was in the 2023 release, "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," which did not meet fan expectations.
With the production of "Avengers: Doomsday" underway, fans are curious if they will see Hank Pym one last time. However, Douglas has indicated that a return to the MCU is unlikely. In an interview with Deadline, he stated, "I don't think so," when asked about reprising his role. He expressed satisfaction with his experience and excitement about having been part of the Marvel universe.
Douglas, who has largely retired from acting, has focused his recent efforts on producing, with over a dozen credits to his name. Reflecting on his time with Marvel, he shared, "I'd never done a green screen picture before. But I'm enjoying my hiatus and enjoying my life. It was overwhelming running the production company and acting at the same time."
Previously, Douglas had expressed a desire for Hank Pym to meet his end in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," believing it would enhance the stakes for Paul Rudd's Ant-Man. However, Marvel's decision-makers opted against this plot direction.

The lackluster box office performance of "Quantumania" has cast doubt on the future of the Ant-Man series. Despite this, Paul Rudd is confirmed to return in "Avengers: Doomsday." As for the rest of the Ant-Man family—including Douglas's Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet Van Dyne, and Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne—their involvement seems uncertain. In June 2024, Lilly announced her departure from acting to prioritize her family, making her appearance as Wasp in "Doomsday" improbable.
As "Avengers: Doomsday" progresses, recent leaks from the set have teased the return of a location featured in "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," sparking excitement and speculation among fans about what the film will ultimately include.
