Marvel enthusiasts eager to see more of Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight in the MCU will be pleased to know that the character is set to return, though not in the form of a second season of the Disney+ series. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, the division has shifted its strategy since the release of Moon Knight in 2022. Previously, the focus was on introducing characters through their own TV shows, which would then tie into future projects, as seen with Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel before her appearance in The Marvels.
However, Marvel Television is now adopting a more traditional television model, aiming for annual releases of shows. Winderbaum explained, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."
While fans have seen Isaac reprise his role as Moon Knight in the animated series Marvel’s What If…?, there's no confirmation yet on his return in live-action. Meanwhile, Marvel's upcoming TV slate on Disney+ includes highly anticipated shows like Daredevil: Born Again in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December.
In other news, Marvel Television recently paused development on three shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, Winderbaum hinted at exciting possibilities, revealing that the company is exploring the potential of bringing back the street-level heroes from the Netflix series, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
