In a recent tweet, Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, stating that the Season 2 premiere is "one of my favorite things ever." The teaser footage showcases John Cena in character, delivering action-packed scenes with a smirk directed at the camera amidst a fiery backdrop. A notable line from the clip highlights Peacemaker's new status: "a superhero now."

Peacemaker Season 2 follows the release of Superman on July 11, marking the significant launch of Gunn's rebooted DC Universe (DCU). It will be the third entry in the DCU, following last year's Creature Commandos TV series and the upcoming Superman film.
Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DCU away from the criticized DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included movies like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, some elements from the DCEU will carry over into the new DCU. Peacemaker serves as a prime example, transitioning from Season 1 in the DCEU to Season 2 in the new DCU.
Gunn has previously mentioned that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though specifics on what will transition from the DCEU to the DCU remain undisclosed. He has confirmed that the entire Team Peacemaker will return with the original cast, including **John Cena** as Peacemaker, **Frank Grillo** as Rick Flag Sr., **Freddie Stroma** as Adrian Chase, and **Danielle Brooks** as Leota Adebayo.Moreover, Gunn has revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly influencing the storyline of Peacemaker.
