Samsung has announced the Galaxy S25 Edge, its newest flagship smartphone, unveiled at its May Unpacked event. While closely resembling the Galaxy S25 released earlier in 2025, the updated design is notably thinner, giving it a distinct edge.
Spec for spec, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge mirrors the Galaxy S25 Ultra almost exactly. It shares the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a nearly identical 200MP camera system. The primary distinction lies in its chassis, now slimmer at just 5.8mm compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 8.2mm. This reduction also makes the device lighter, tipping the scales at only 163g.
The phone retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Samsung Galaxy S25, despite having nearly identical specs to the slightly larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.
With such a thin and large form factor, durability is a key concern. Samsung claims to have improved resilience by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which promises greater strength than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The bigger question, however, isn’t about drops—it’s whether the device can withstand being sat on in your pocket. (Will it avoid a new BendGate?)
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also includes the same suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Galaxy S24 last year and refined in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite enables substantial on-device AI processing, enhancing privacy—but many AI-powered apps still depend on cloud services. That said, Samsung offers a few standout features, like quick summaries of notifications and news articles, if that’s your kind of convenience.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is available for preorder today, starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB variant. It comes in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung is pushing hard to convince you this slim phone is incredibly durable—let’s hope they’re right.
