In May 2015, Nintendo boldly ventured into new realms of entertainment by announcing a partnership with Universal Parks & Resorts to develop theme parks inspired by their beloved games and characters. This strategic move has now blossomed into the reality of Super Nintendo World, a lively theme park filled with exciting rides, interactive attractions, themed gift shops, and dining experiences centered around iconic characters. These immersive parks have opened in Japan, Los Angeles, and Florida, with an exciting expansion planned for Singapore.
As we anticipate the launch of Universal's Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, which will introduce the first Donkey Kong Country theme park expansion in America, I had the privilege of speaking with Shigeru Miyamoto, the legendary game designer behind Super Mario, Donkey Kong, and many other iconic characters. Our conversation delved into the creation of these parks, his collaboration with the next generation of Nintendo game developers, and his enthusiasm for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.
