Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has tempered expectations regarding the release of the eagerly awaited third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse. In a recent interview with Decider, Jerome revealed that he hasn't even begun recording lines for the film, indicating that production is still in the planning stages. "No, I wish," Jerome remarked when asked about the start of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."
Given that the second film in the series was released five years after the first in 2023, the delay in starting production on Beyond the Spider-Verse doesn't come as a complete surprise. Fans of the franchise may have to wait until at least 2026 for the next chapter, according to Deadline, though aligning with the previous film's timeline could push the release to 2028.

While Jerome's role in Across the Spider-Verse was relatively minor, he is set to play a pivotal role in Beyond the Spider-Verse as the main antagonist. Spoiler alert for the finale of Across the Spider-Verse: Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who, instead of becoming Spider-Man, becomes the Prowler. This alternate Miles's life took a darker turn when the radioactive spider meant for him ended up in the reality of the series' protagonist, biting him instead. As a result, Miles G. Morales never became Spider-Man, and after his universe's Peter Parker died, he joined the ranks of supervillains ruling New York.
The narrative of how this darker Miles Morales will clash with the series' protagonist, the Miles who did become Spider-Man, is expected to unfold in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will need to exercise patience as they await further developments in this captivating multiverse saga.
