Hazelight's acclaimed co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has surpassed nearly four million copies sold.
Publisher EA revealed this milestone in recent earnings reports, describing the game as a "tremendously successful launch" and highlighting its role in the company's strong finish to fiscal year 2025.
"4 MILLION COPIES SOLD!!!" Hazelight proclaimed on social media. "We're overwhelmed by how many of you have embraced Split Fiction...
"Watching your enjoyment of our game and your affection for Mio, Zoe, and their relationship deeply touches our team. Plus, we've lost count of all those virtual hot dogs consumed!"
Split Fiction immerses players in the imaginative worlds of two creative writers through an innovative co-op experience playable with just one game copy. Despite its March 2025 launch, the game continues Hazelight and director Josef Fares' winning streak, having sold 2 million copies in its first week. It's also confirmed as a launch title for Nintendo Switch 2 while Hazelight begins development on their next project.
A film adaptation is currently in production with Story Kitchen, the studio behind the Sonic movie series, reportedly assembling writers, a director, and cast members including Sydney Sweeney.
In our IGN Split Fiction review, we praised the game as "a masterfully designed cooperative journey that seamlessly transitions between wildly different genres," noting "its rapid-fire introduction and abandonment of gameplay concepts creates exhilarating variety throughout the 14-hour experience."
