Publisher Dotemu, in collaboration with studios Guard Crush Games and Supamonks, has announced the upcoming release of Absolum—a thrilling fantasy beat 'em up infused with roguelite elements. Set in the mystical world of Talamh, the game unfolds after a devastating magical cataclysm that has left the population in fear of magic. The tyrannical King-Sun Azra capitalizes on this fear, using his Crimson Order to oppress and enslave mages. Against this backdrop, a courageous band of heroes emerges to challenge his rule. This valiant group includes the necromancer Galandra, the rebel gnome Karl, the mage Brom, and the enigmatic Sidr.
Players diving into Absolum will experience intense action, with the ability to upgrade their characters' skills, unleash powerful combos, and cast magical spells. The game offers both single-player and cooperative modes, encouraging players to team up, combine their attacks, and synchronize their strikes to execute devastating combinations against their foes.
Adding to the immersive experience, the game's soundtrack is being composed by a trio of legendary musicians: Gareth Coker, renowned for his work on Ori and Halo Infinite; Yuka Kitamura, who has contributed to Dark Souls and Elden Ring; and Mick Gordon, the mastermind behind the soundtracks of DOOM Eternal and Atomic Heart.
Absolum is slated for release in 2025, and will be available on PS4/5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Fans of fantasy action and roguelite gameplay have much to look forward to with this exciting new title.
