I have big plans over Memorial Day weekend to do some shopping. I typically don't buy much during Memorial Day sales, but with the uncertainty about tariffs and rising prices in the U.S., I feel like it's now or never to make my purchases. I've been wanting to upgrade my gaming setup for years, and it's starting to feel like a critical time to act.
Most Memorial Day sales have been active since last week, and I've been focusing on the Wayfair sale for furniture. I'm looking for a new office chair, desk, and a bookcase to store my games. The Wayfair site has been the easiest to navigate, and I've also checked IGN's recommendations for the best gaming chairs and desks to expand my search.
If you're thinking about upgrading your gaming setup or office during these sales, here are my tips on how to approach it.
Start With the Wayfair Sale
Furniture - Wayfair Memorial Day Sale
Sort through thousands of home and office deals. See it at Wayfair
Although Amazon's Memorial Day sale offers discounts on everything, Wayfair excels in furniture deals. It's a great starting point due to the vast number of deals and the ease of filtering to find Memorial Day-specific offers. You can filter by dimensions, material, color, and price, which helps you pinpoint exactly what you need for your space. Even if you don't end up buying from Wayfair, it's a great place to refine your preferences. I've used Wayfair to purchase bookshelves, rugs, lamps, and tables, and I generally recommend them for such items.
However, Wayfair may not have all the top brands. Their prices are competitive for standard furniture, but for premium office chairs or gaming-specific desks, you might want to look elsewhere.
Splurge on Comfort Only
When upgrading your setup, I suggest splurging on the chair. My current office chair is falling apart, and I'm wrapping it with sweatpants to keep it together. Since I plan to use the new chair for both work and gaming, I'm being selective. I haven't decided between a gaming chair or an office chair yet, but IGN recommends the Secretlab Titan Evo, which is tempting, especially with their current sale.

Get Your Accessories at Amazon
Customizing your gaming setup with accessories like RGB lights, mouse pads, laptop stands, headset holders, and Steam Deck docks is crucial. Amazon typically offers the best prices on these items. While Wayfair has unique items like a Darth Vader cardboard cutout, Amazon is my go-to for everything else.
The Biggest Sale - Amazon Memorial Day Sale
It's worth noting that Amazon also has some of the best Memorial Day TV deals. The LG C4, for example, has hit a new all-time low price, making it an excellent choice for both console and PC gamers.
Upgrade Your Gaming PC While You Can
I currently don't have a high-performance gaming PC, and with my budget constraints, I rely on my Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch, which are great for portability but not for performance. I dream of upgrading to a PC with an RTX 5090, but with GPU prices rising and a potential Switch 2 in the future, it's not feasible for me right now.
If you're looking to buy a new gaming laptop or PC, Memorial Day sales are a good time to shop. Start with the Dell Memorial Day sale, but also check out discounts at HP, Lenovo, Best Buy, and more. Here are some of the best sales I've found in this category.
