Fresh from the success of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo releases another innovative take on the musou genre today. Warriors: Abyss introduces a roguelite twist featuring iconic Warriors series characters, available now across multiple platforms.
Showcased during today's PlayStation State of Play, Warriors: Abyss challenges players to assemble squads of legendary warriors and battle endless enemy hordes. The game adopts an isometric perspective, drawing inspiration from Diablo's dungeon-crawling action and Hades' mythological roguelite structure.
Gameplay revolves around building a team to combat demonic forces in hellish realms, with today's reveal trailer featuring familiar faces like Zhou Yu, Nobunaga Oda, and Sunshang Xiang from the Warriors franchise.
According to PlayStation Blog details, players gradually recruit warriors to expand their roster, gaining access to new summoning abilities. The game launches with 100 playable characters, with up to seven active heroes deployable in combat simultaneously.
Koei Tecmo confirmed ongoing character additions post-launch, beginning with Jin kingdom warriors from Dynasty Warriors. The developer also hinted at potential crossover characters from outside the Warriors series in future updates.
Warriors: Abyss is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A Nintendo Switch version arrives February 13, 2025. Early adopters can claim an exclusive Dynasty Warriors Costume Set by purchasing before March 14, 2025.
