WHAT IS STENCILETTO?
Stenciletto is a series of progressive cognitive exercises based on simple geometric shapes. It aims to develop and sharpen visual & spatial perception skills. Anyone can enjoy it—the only requirement is the ability to recognize basic shapes and understand what a stencil is.
Solving the puzzles engages a wide range of critical thinking skills simultaneously, including visual & spatial perception, logical reasoning, planning, and problem‑solving. It looks simple but offers a real cognitive challenge. Your task is to tap geometric stencils in the correct order to recreate the target pattern. It’s much trickier than it seems and will definitely get you thinking!
The game was developed over ten years by an experienced teacher, with input from children, teens, adults, and individuals with learning disabilities or brain injuries. Every group has found it rewarding and motivating.
In this latest release, we’ve introduced Education Mode. This makes the game practical for classroom use. A single purchase unlocks all relevant content, with controls for managing content access, internet, Game Center, and sharing. Education Mode supports Family Sharing, making it ideal for home educators as well.
HISTORY OF THE GAME
Originally known as the Stencil Design IQ Test, the game was created by early‑20th‑century psychologist Grace Arthur Ph.D. She recognized that non‑verbal skills are a core component of intelligence. She found the test suitable for children as young as seven, as well as for her fellow professors. Arthur used it to measure the IQ of Native American and deaf children who hadn’t attended regular schools and often scored poorly on verbal IQ tests. With this activity, she demonstrated that their IQs matched those of educated Americans.
WHAT'S IN THE GAME?
There are two game types. Classic Games are based on Grace Arthur’s original geometric stencils—squares, circles, triangles, crosses, etc.—that most people recognize. Our new World Games are extension exercises for those with strong perception and logic who want an extra challenge.
Stenciletto includes over 600 graded puzzles. Every level offers a free set to try (60 free puzzles in total).
Each paid game contains 15 puzzles. Completing a Classic Game rewards you with an animated Smiley. These characters are drawn from history and mythology to represent diverse cultures fairly. They’re also a fun way to track your progress and achievements.
Different modes of play are available:-
• Mortal Mode is the default: purchase lives or wait for them to regenerate. Timed and scored, with Mortal leaderboards.
• Immortal Mode gives you free lives forever—just top up your life bank when needed. Timed and scored, with Immortal leaderboards.
• Mindful Mode has no timer or scoring, so you can relax and take your time to solve puzzles.
• Education Mode unlocks both Immortal and Mindful Mode, letting you choose either (Mortal Mode can be disabled).
