ASTRA: Knights of Veda is set to remove its English voiceovers following maintenance on January 23, 2025. Dive deeper to understand the rationale behind this language shift in the game.
ASTRA: Knights of Veda Removing English Dubbing After Maintenance
To Enhance Game Stability and Localizations
The developers at FLINT have decided to eliminate English dubbing in ASTRA: Knights of Veda on January 23, 2025, with the goal of enhancing "game stability and the quality of localizations." This decision was announced on January 20 as part of a broader Language Support update aimed at improving localizations and ensuring smoother gameplay.
Scheduled maintenance on January 23 will result in the removal of support for several languages, including German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. However, FLINT will continue to support Korean, English (text only), Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian.
While English language support remains intact, the in-game English voiceovers will be discontinued. Post-maintenance, "countries outside of Korea will automatically have their In-Game Voice option set to Japanese." FLINT has reassured players that this change will not impact their ability to communicate in any of the languages that were removed.
Despite potential concerns from fans, FLINT is committed to "continuing to provide better services and experiences for our Masters of the Book."
Other Gacha Games That Removed English Voiceovers
FLINT is not alone in this decision. Other gacha games have also opted to remove English voice-over support. For instance, Square Enix’s War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius announced in May 2024 that they would discontinue English voice-overs for future content starting from Main Story Part 3, Chapter 8, and Another Story Chapter 3, Scene 7. Existing chapters will retain their English voice-overs, but new content will default to Japanese. This move was made to prioritize the Japanese language for the game's future.
In February 2024, Yostar Games’ Aether Gazer decided to remove all English voice-overs following the "Crepuscular Cloudsong" update due to financial challenges. The developers chose to redirect resources to improve gameplay, performance, and future content.
Similarly, Amazing Seasun Games’ Snowbreak: Containment Zone removed English voice-overs in December 2023 after evaluating player preferences and aiming to optimize the gaming experience. Starting with Version 1.4, certain content will automatically switch to Japanese voice-over.
These decisions across various gacha games highlight a focus on language preferences and resource management. By prioritizing languages preferred by the majority of players and reallocating resources, developers aim to ensure the longevity of their games and enhance the aspects most valued by their community.
