Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
During the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi Ji-Won shared with Eurogamer how his experience with Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test invigorated his approach to game development. Known for his admiration of FromSoftware titles, Choi's influence is clear in the design of Lies of P.
Reflecting on Elden Ring: Nightreign, Choi remarked, "I've tried [Nightreign] and it was very refreshing and new. This experience confirmed their status as innovative developers, always pushing their creative boundaries. It motivated me to ensure Overture delivers the best possible experience for our players."
Choi also expressed openness to future projects, particularly in the realm of multiplayer games, stating, "In terms of our future endeavors, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration in the future."
Despite his affinity for FromSoftware's work, Choi clarified during an interview with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC that his inspiration spans a broad spectrum of games. He said, "I'm a fan of many, many types of games, and I draw inspiration from a variety of experiences. I mold these diverse influences into the unique Lies of P experience, crafted specifically for our fans."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi revealed that experienced players can expect to spend 15-20 hours completing the Overture DLC, which is packed with numerous bosses and content initially intended for the main game's launch. He explained, "Overture isn't just an add-on; it's deeply interconnected with the base game. Developing this expansion felt like completing the Lies of P experience, which was a significant challenge."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to the final days of Krat, following a legendary Stalker. It incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and concepts that couldn't be included in the initial release due to development constraints. Choi likened Overture to a Director's Cut, suggesting it completes the game's narrative arc.
He emphasized the importance of quality, saying, "When we released the base game, we had to prioritize to ensure the best quality, which meant we couldn't deliver everything at once. The support from our community after the base game's release encouraged us to include everything we wanted in this expansion."
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
In an interview with IGN at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that Overture is not linked to the final cutscene of the base game. While the ending hinted at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe, Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter that a sequel is in the works, though details on Lies of P 2 remain scarce.
Choi assured fans, "When we share news or media about upcoming projects, rest assured that we're ready to present it to you. Our focus on quality amidst all pressures remains unwavering. That's a promise I can make to our fans."
He encouraged players to explore the base game, noting that it contains many hints about the upcoming DLC. Choi also mentioned enjoying fan theories online, some of which have come remarkably close to the truth.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for release in Summer 2025, though a specific date has yet to be announced. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news by checking out our article below!
