Assassin’s Creed Shadows Game Length Confirmed
30-40 Hours for the Main Story

Assassin’s Creed Shadows promises 30-40 hours of immersive main storyline content. During Kyoto's showcase event, Creative Director Johnathan Dumont shared exclusive details with Genki Gamer about the game's scope.
Dumont confirmed players can expect approximately 30-40 hours for the core narrative, with over 80 hours of additional side content. The development team is actively considering New Game+ mode and other gameplay variations based on community input - a particularly anticipated feature after its absence in AC Valhalla.
The director highlighted Shadows' dynamic seasons and weather systems, innovative gameplay mechanics, enhanced hideout customization, and a fresh Animus narrative connecting to future franchise entries.
Realizing the Japanese Assassin's Creed Dream

Dumont expressed the team's long-standing ambition to create a Japanese-themed Assassin's Creed. With current technological capabilities and compelling narrative opportunities, Feudal Japan finally provides the ideal setting for natural movement mechanics.
While drawing inspiration from classic Japanese cinema like "13 Assassins" and Kurosawa films, the team maintains the franchise's unique identity. Dumont acknowledged constructive feedback regarding historical portrayal, particularly concerning Yasuke's inclusion as a black samurai - a historically debated figure.
The creative director emphasized their commitment to delivering an exceptional experience that honors Japanese culture while advancing the franchise.
Hideout Feature Exploration
The Secret Valley of Izumi Settsu

Ubisoft's March 5, 2025 developer diary detailed the Hideout system located in Izumi Settsu's secluded valley. This customizable headquarters serves as the player's operational base while establishing the Brotherhood's presence.
"It's our most ambitious homebase yet," explained Systems Associate Director Dany. "After numerous iterations across previous titles, we've implemented unprecedented customization freedom - players essentially design their headquarters from scratch."
The system grants players an entire acre for personalized construction, including buildings, landscapes, and decorative elements. Unlockable content ensures the Hideout evolves naturally with progression.
Building Your Brotherhood

The Hideout dynamically hosts NPC allies whose placement influences behavior patterns - warriors frequenting dojos, others relaxing in traditional chambers. This creates organic character interactions that enhance narrative depth.
"Concentrating our allies enables meaningful character development," Dany noted. "Our global writing team crafted unique interactions - imagine interesting roommate dynamics between these historical figures. These details make the Hideout feel truly alive."
With its comprehensive features, Assassin's Creed Shadows aims to deliver an authentic Japanese experience through the franchise's signature lens.
