As anticipation builds for the highly anticipated *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered*, Bethesda has delivered an unexpected update for *Starfield*. This surprise patch introduces a ‘Very Low’ display setting aimed at enhancing performance on less powerful devices, along with expanded support for Creations (mods). Additionally, the update addresses issues related to quests, vehicles, the user interface, and the Shattered Space DLC.
Currently available via Steam beta, PC players can opt into this update. In a statement on their website, Bethesda encouraged users to provide feedback and shared the patch notes below:
Although this update focuses primarily on adding minor features and fixing bugs, *Starfield* players are still eagerly awaiting news of potential DLC. Launched in September 2023, *Starfield* marked Bethesda’s first wholly original IP in 25 years. Despite reaching 15 million players, it did not receive the same acclaim as titles in the *Elder Scrolls* and *Fallout* series, with the *Shattered Space* expansion receiving mixed reviews on Steam.
Despite concerns over Bethesda’s commitment, the company has assured fans that they have "exciting plans" for *Starfield* this year. At the time of writing, Bethesda remains dedicated to supporting the game, with at least one more story expansion planned following *Shattered Space*. During an interview with *MrMattyPlays* on YouTube, Todd Howard, director of Bethesda Game Studios, expressed ambitions to release an annual story expansion for *Starfield* moving forward.
In March, rumors intensified about a possible PlayStation 5 release for *Starfield* after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. Although the logo was attached to a work-in-progress ship decal for *Starfield* and later removed, fans speculated that the PC and Xbox-exclusive title might soon debut on PS5.
