Sony's Marvel Spider-Man 2 has made its much-anticipated leap to PC today, January 30, offering gamers a chance to swing through New York with enhanced features tailored for the platform. Developer Nixxes Software, as detailed on the PlayStation Blog, has worked diligently to optimize the game for a wide variety of PC hardware, ensuring a smooth and visually stunning experience.
Alongside a captivating new trailer, Nixxes Software announced that the PC version of Spider-Man 2 eliminates the PSN requirement for players, making it more accessible. Additionally, the port introduces advanced raytracing capabilities, including DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction, which significantly enhances the visual quality. According to Nixxes graphics programmer Menno Bil, "In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC with ray reconstruction enabled, we see more detailed ray-traced reflections and better-defined ray-traced shadows, especially when viewing raytracing effects at steep angles. We also see improvements in the ray-traced interiors and less ghosting and noise in the ray-traced ambient occlusion."
The PC version supports various upscaling and frame generation technologies such as DLSS 3, FSR 3.1, and Intel’s XeSS. While DLSS 4’s Multi Frame Generation isn't supported initially, users can potentially enhance DLSS 3’s Frame Generation through the Nvidia app.
Gamers with wider monitors will appreciate the ultrawide support, which extends up to a 48:9 aspect ratio, allowing all cinematics to be enjoyed at up to 32:9.

The game's system requirements are thoughtfully segmented into ray-traced and non-ray-traced configurations. For those less concerned about high-end visuals, the game can run at 720p and 30 FPS on a modest setup featuring an Nvidia GTX 1650, an Intel Core i3 8100, and 16 GB of RAM. On the other end of the spectrum, to achieve 4K at 60 FPS with "Ray Tracing Ultimate," you'll need an RTX 4090, an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D, and 32 GB of RAM.
Regarding the possibility of running Spider-Man 2 on a Steam Deck, the high RAM and modern GPU requirements suggest it might be challenging, and Steam Deck verification is not guaranteed. Previous titles like Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which were PS4 ports, were more adaptable to lower-end hardware, whereas Spider-Man 2, originally exclusive to PS5, may push the limits of the Steam Deck.
The community has responded positively to the detailed hardware requirements. A user on Reddit commented, "This must be the best hardware requirements sheet I’ve seen so far." Another user, ItsMeIcebear4, added, "Honestly, great job. If performance lives up to this, it'll be very well received."
