The much-anticipated action game, Lost Soul Aside, initially slated for release on May 30, 2025, has been postponed by its developer, Ultizero Games. The new launch date is set for August 29, 2025. This single-player game, designed for PC and PlayStation 5, has been in development for approximately a decade, and this delay aims to enhance the final product's polish.
Ultizero Games expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming positive feedback from the global gaming community. "We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," the developer stated. They reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience, explaining, "To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally a passion project by solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved significantly. Now, under Sony's China Hero Project, it stands as a major title with Bing at the helm as the founder and CEO of Shanghai-based studio, Ultizero Games. IGN recently had an exclusive interview with Yang Bing, delving into the extensive development journey of Lost Soul Aside. From its humble beginnings to a prominent reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast, the game has generated substantial excitement, often likened to a blend of Final Fantasy characters and Devil May Cry combat, especially since Yang Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.
The game's protagonist, Kesar, is equipped with a versatile, shape-shifting weapon that allows players to switch playstyles dynamically. Accompanying Kesar is a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to aid in combat. Lost Soul Aside draws inspiration from its predecessors, emphasizing aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering, alongside epic boss battles. The narrative unfolds across multiple dimensions, blending sci-fi themes with various modern aesthetics. While the trailers provide glimpses of the game's visuals and mechanics, Yang Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery," hinting at a deeper storyline waiting to be explored.
