inZOI Fixes Bug, Prevents Running Over Children

Author : Alexis Jun 29,2025

A recent controversy surrounding inZOI has been resolved following a patch that fixed a disturbing bug, which previously allowed players to run over children with vehicles. The issue was first brought to light by a Reddit user on March 28, who shared footage demonstrating how a child NPC could be struck and launched into the air using a car, ultimately resulting in death. Although vehicle-related fatalities were known to be part of the game’s simulation mechanics, the inclusion of children in this behavior was unintentional and swiftly addressed by Krafton.

Krafton Issues Official Statement

In response to community concerns, a Krafton spokesperson confirmed the issue was an unintended bug and clarified the studio's stance in a statement released on March 28:

"These depictions are highly inappropriate and do not reflect the intent and values of inZOI. We understand the seriousness of this matter and age-appropriate content, and we are strengthening our internal review processes to prevent similar incidents in the future."

This patch update aligns with the game’s ESRB rating of T for Teen, ensuring that content remains suitable for its intended audience. Had the feature remained active, it could have potentially led to a more restrictive rating classification.

Creative Challenges of Realistic Game Design

inZOI continues to receive praise during its Early Access phase, particularly for its high-quality visuals and immersive world-building. Despite this, Game Director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim acknowledged some creative limitations tied to the game’s hyper-realistic art style in a recent interview with PCGamesN on March 31.

“This was something we thought about a lot,” Kjun explained. “With such realistic graphics, we constantly questioned how far we should take that realism. At times, we wanted to incorporate comical or lighthearted elements, but they didn’t quite fit with the grounded visuals, which was a bit disappointing sometimes.”

Balancing Identity and Innovation

The development team has long expressed admiration for *The Sims 4*, especially its playful and exaggerated approach to life-sim gameplay. However, replicating that same tone within *inZOI*’s realistic framework has proven challenging. Despite these constraints, Kjun remains confident in the direction the game is taking.

“We believe this level of immersive graphics will resonate with players, and throughout development, we’ve felt both proud and excited to bring this world to life,” he added.

While *inZOI* excels in visual fidelity and environmental detail, the team continues to refine its identity as it competes in a space largely dominated by established titles like *The Sims 4*. As the game evolves, fans remain hopeful that the developers will find a unique balance between realism and engaging life-sim mechanics.
